Rucksack Revolution is the melding of two of Wisconsin’s most recognized modern singer-songwriters. Adam Greuel, of the high-energy string band Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and Sarah Vos, of the folk-inspired Dead Horses, draw from broad musical influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Fleetwood Mac to Gillian Welch & David Rawlings to bring you a show that will be mostly focused on original material. The duo’s chemistry as musical partners and dear friends is apparent as their music features tight harmonies, introspective lyricism, and soaring melodies.
“Bio’s sure are a funny thing. Sometimes the band writes them for themselves, other times they pay a bunch of money to have a professional do it. Well, instead of that whole hoopla, I’m just going to explain why I think Sarah and I find serious amounts of joy in making music together. We met back in the early days of Dead Horses and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Those are our two “main bands”, ya know, our day jobs. Anyhow, we immediately hit it off and became friends. I think there was a sense of musical and life curiosity, as well as mutual respect, that drew us together. That feeling led to us hanging out at my college rental house in Stevens Point. We started playing music together and there was this wonderful and immediate sense of chemistry. The floors were wooden, and I think that made the sound sparkle a little bit too. That really was the first night of “Rucksack Revolution”. Since then, our friendship and our music have grown and created some great nights of music and magic. Sometimes we play songs we’ve recently written, other times we play songs from Dead Horses or Horseshoes, and sometimes we even play songs we’ve never played for anyone before. Sometimes we feel real high, sometimes we feel real low. I think we take comfort and pride in the acceptance that we have for one another and I think that creates a relaxed feeling that can lead to some beautiful sounds. In the spring and summer of 2021, we decided to go to a recording studio and lay down some music that was uniquely us. It feels like that experience drew us musically closer yet and I feel great, and grateful, about what we created. People are always asking about the future and the past, but sometimes it’s best to just see what is, right now. When we get together, we try to embrace that moment and hope that the folks that come around can join us in that. I think Sarah’s a wonderful songwriter, a great human, and a dear friend. I really, really enjoy making music with her. How’s that for a damn bio?” – Adam Greuel

IAN GEORGE LIVE AT THE PLUS
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND
THE PLUS
208 S BARSTOW STREET
EAU CLAIRE, WI
Doors 7pm | General Admission | All Ages | $10 in advance | $15 at door
Indie-Folk muso joined by a subtly explosive and peculiarly adventurous band of beautiful, sensitive, and thrashing men.
Ian George delivers the sort of concert you’ll likely dance, sway, sing, laugh and probably cry too. The performance teems with whimsicality, clever arrangements - interrupted by triumphant tangents - and outlandish solos grounded by George’s emotive and gauzy voice and by the simple strength of a good song. Expect an engaging and dynamic haul of gentle and not so gentle folk-rock adventures.
“Weirdly beautiful.” ~ The Current (MPR)
“Ian George is a fanciful folk troubadour with a rhythmic flow and spirited vision. He’s an American Matt Corby; a heartwarming blend of Iron & Wine’s folk and Vampire Weekend’s frisky energy. George’s music is the type to which one would ascribe words like frolic and wandering, but his songs are equally intimate and emotional... Worthy of everyone’s ears, songs we can teach our children, our parents, our grandparents, and ourselves.” ~ Atwood Magazine
“Effulgent eclecticism on display in the forthcoming album. George's forward-looking new offering is a subtle explosion of vibrant colors that delight.” ~PopMatters
“Poetic, lush, and cautious songs that will resonate with anyone in transition. Despite the eight tunes defying comparison, each song here is a treasure.” ~ New Noise Magazine
“There’s a gauzy float to George’s voice that calls up John Martyn.” ~ RnR Magazine
"Really engrossing, atmospheric music that feels a little different to anything else about." ~ FOLK ROOM RECORDS
“passionate, purposeful and relatable” ~ Concert Communicator
“Tolkien like ramblings and adventurous instrumentation; weirdly inviting.” ~ Maverick Magazine

Other festivals appearances include SXSW (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022), The Moontower comedy festival (2012, 2013, 2014, 2019), Just for Laughs Chicago (2013), Just for Laughs Toronto (2013) and Just for Laughs Montreal (2008, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2018). He's performed on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham (2009), Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (2010), Conan (2011, 2013), and Comedy Central’s The Half Hour (2013). More recently, He's been on @midnight (2014, 2015), The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail (2015), This Is Not Happening (2015, 2017, 2019), Showtime's Live from SXSW (2017), TruTv's Comedy Knockout (2016, 2017, 2018), and This week at the Comedy Cellar (2018, 2019, 2020).
In 2019 he released his second album Scuttlebutt on Helium Records. His next album King Scorpio was released on Christmas Eve 2021 and as a special on Youtube in August 2022. His special Number One is currently streaming on peacock.
As for acting, He's appeared on IFC'S Maron, Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer and TruTV's Those who can't. As of September 2024 He stars alongside Brian Jordan Alvarez, Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, and Carmen Christopher in FX’s English Teacher
"I’ve seen him perform more than a dozen sets, and he’s killed every time. He’s dynamite, even with ordinary material, turning standard Brooklyn hipster jokes into a stomping, roaring, tour de force, and elevating a bit about sex-performance anxiety into high-stakes comedy. [...] He’s the rare comic who goes over as well in a comedy club as in a bar basement."
- New York Times
“ …a deceptively mesmeric talent, I found myself watching rapt between fits of eruptive laughter.”
- The Scotsman
“There’s a lot of talk in comedy circles about club acts as opposed to festival ones – reliable joke-machines who can tame the rowdiest rooms compared to the artier, slower-burn types with stories and ideas that demand and reward attention.
Well, in Sean Patton you get both… he’s the sort of comedian who puts the ‘art’ in ‘fart’.”
- Chortle

Frontman and lead songwriter, Jed LaPlant comes from a family deeply tied into the MInnesota bluegrass community, where storytelling is central to a song. He draws on that background with lyrics that are personal and at times intimate. That intimacy translates to the audience in their live shows, balancing that deep connection with electrifying energy.
Out with their debut album, Runaway, the band has toured the Midwest, the South, and out to the West, gaining a loyal following in nearly every place they’ve played. Their live show is a foot stompin’ and hands wavin’ kind of time with a collective feeling of camaraderie among those present. For those who have seen them perform, there is intense excitement about what is to come for the Wild Horses.
In 2022, as they were fresh onto the scene of rural Minnesota, their first ticketed show sold out a 700-seat theater. Since then, they have shared the stage with bands like Wilco, Shovels & Rope, Langhorne Slim, Dead Man Winter (Dave Simonett), Charlie Parr, The Lowest Pair, Horseshoes and Handgrenades among many others. In May of 2024, Wild Horses was added as opening support for Willie Nelson on three dates in Minnesota.
The rootsy Americana rock band delivers music that has meaning, depth and ties to the human connection. Featuring band members from very different musical backgrounds, they have landed on a sound that incorporates heartbreaking vocals, standout harmonies between Jed and Ariana, driving beats and epic jams. Wild Horses taps into their rural American roots with music that sends reverbs down your spine.
At the core, Wild Horses are a band whose mission is to improve the human experience through a shared love of music.
