ABOUT THE BAND

Valley Fox is a Midwestern folk power trio made up of
Laura Bomber (guitar), Joe Wais (mandolin) and Tori
Yocum (upright bass).

With a focus on delivering bold, haunting harmonies,
the trio seamlessly blends pristine vocals with gritty
string music to create a forceful yet thoughtful sound,
blurring the lines of folk, bluegrass and country music.

The Eau Claire Male Chorus will present its annual Christmas Concerts on Friday December 6, and Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Memorial High School Madrigal Singers will be guest performers at both concerts.

Join us for an experimental evening of Collaborative Midwest Music featuring The Nunnery (Eau Claire, WI) - Old Pup (Milwaukee, WI) and Luke Callen (Minneapolis, MN) and joined by a rhythm section composed of Chris Gray on Drums and Simon Cropp on Bass. These musicians are frequent collaborators behind the scenes and will be joining forces for three nights on stages across the Upper Midwest showcasing songs from their own catalogues as well as a handful of improvised compositions - ranging from cosmic country and americana to dream pop and extended vocal techniques. 

Shane Leonard - Eau Claire's storied producer - songwriter - multi-instrumentalist and comedian - will open the evening with a set of music that is both expansive and introspective.  His songs combine stark wisdom - wry humor and a humble sense of humanity with ease. http://www.shaneleonardmusic.com/

The Nunnery begins with one voice, layered upon itself becoming a lush soundscape. She is an independent musician that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Old Pup creates warmly haunted folk music - combining curiously unique lyrics on top of cosmic arrangements that create a cosmic landscape here on earth. Luke Callen is an adept songwriter and fingerstyle guitar player - making his home at the intersection of Harry Smith's Old Weird America and the Strange Country he finds himself in today. D. Janakey's folk songs ride the edge between autobiographical and transcendental story telling. Drawing comparisons to Prine & Paul Simon, these are songs that ring with life. LAKE DRIVE

Lake Drive is a 4-piece American Pop-Rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin formed in 2023 by Rayven Burdette (vocals), Brandon Detaege (guitar), Trevor Gallagher (bass), and Adam Secord (drums). They've played venues all over the state including The Rave, X-Ray Arcade, and Cactus Club.  An opening act for artists such as jxdn,Sueco, and LØLØ. Their debut EP 'Post-Internet Romance' features singles 'Plus One', 'ur so funny.' and 'Overrated'

PULLSTRING

Hailing from Minneapolis, Pullstring’s brand of nostalgic Alt Rock and Power Pop is reminiscent of the 90s and 2000s artists they grew up listening to, such as Green Day and their hometown favorites, The Replacements. 

Though only a few years old, Pullstring is no stranger to life on the road with three Midwest tours under their belt playing at venues such as 7th Street Entry (Minneapolis, MN), the Maintenance Shop (Ames, IA), and Shank Hall (Milwaukee, WI). 

Pullstring has also been on festival lineups such as Big Turn Music Fest, KURE Fest, and Northwoods Rock Rally. Notable touring acts Pullstring has opened for include ALEXSUCKS, George Clanton, The Melismatics, and We Are Scientists.

Rucksack Revolution is the melding of two of Wisconsin’s most recognized modern singer-songwriters. Adam Greuel, of the high-energy string band Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and Sarah Vos, of the folk-inspired Dead Horses, draw from broad musical influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Fleetwood Mac to Gillian Welch & David Rawlings to bring you a show that will be mostly focused on original material. The duo’s chemistry as musical partners and dear friends is apparent as their music features tight harmonies, introspective lyricism, and soaring melodies.

“Bio’s sure are a funny thing. Sometimes the band writes them for themselves, other times they pay a bunch of money to have a professional do it. Well, instead of that whole hoopla, I’m just going to explain why I think Sarah and I find serious amounts of joy in making music together. We met back in the early days of Dead Horses and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Those are our two “main bands”, ya know, our day jobs. Anyhow, we immediately hit it off and became friends. I think there was a sense of musical and life curiosity, as well as mutual respect, that drew us together. That feeling led to us hanging out at my college rental house in Stevens Point. We started playing music together and there was this wonderful and immediate sense of chemistry. The floors were wooden, and I think that made the sound sparkle a little bit too. That really was the first night of “Rucksack Revolution”. Since then, our friendship and our music have grown and created some great nights of music and magic. Sometimes we play songs we’ve recently written, other times we play songs from Dead Horses or Horseshoes, and sometimes we even play songs we’ve never played for anyone before. Sometimes we feel real high, sometimes we feel real low. I think we take comfort and pride in the acceptance that we have for one another and I think that creates a relaxed feeling that can lead to some beautiful sounds. In the spring and summer of 2021, we decided to go to a recording studio and lay down some music that was uniquely us. It feels like that experience drew us musically closer yet and I feel great, and grateful, about what we created. People are always asking about the future and the past, but sometimes it’s best to just see what is, right now. When we get together, we try to embrace that moment and hope that the folks that come around can join us in that. I think Sarah’s a wonderful songwriter, a great human, and a dear friend.
