Join us for an experimental evening of Collaborative Midwest Music featuring The Nunnery (Eau Claire, WI) - Old Pup (Milwaukee, WI) and Luke Callen (Minneapolis, MN) and joined by a rhythm section composed of Chris Gray on Drums and Simon Cropp on Bass. These musicians are frequent collaborators behind the scenes and will be joining forces for three nights on stages across the Upper Midwest showcasing songs from their own catalogues as well as a handful of improvised compositions - ranging from cosmic country and americana to dream pop and extended vocal techniques.
Shane Leonard - Eau Claire's storied producer - songwriter - multi-instrumentalist and comedian - will open the evening with a set of music that is both expansive and introspective. His songs combine stark wisdom - wry humor and a humble sense of humanity with ease. http://www.shaneleonardmusic.com/
The Nunnery begins with one voice, layered upon itself becoming a lush soundscape. She is an independent musician that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Her vocal loops give us the kind of detail and wide multi-octave range that we might come to expect from a marquee pop star, while her production decisions continually keep us guessing as to what rabbit holes her tracks might fall into next. https://thenunnerymusic.com/home
Old Pup creates warmly haunted folk music - combining curiously unique lyrics on top of cosmic arrangements that create a cosmic landscape here on earth. Well known for his songwriting and singing - Old Pup also plays an intrinsic role in producing some of the midwests up and coming musicians - alongside joining a number of them on his two sad machines - the Pedal and Lap Steel. https://oldpup.bandcamp.com/music
Luke Callen is an adept songwriter and fingerstyle guitar player - making his home at the intersection of Harry Smith's Old Weird America and the Strange Country he finds himself in today. His experiments in song and guitar have led him to write deeply nuanced pieces about the American experience as well as proficient instrumentals based in the soundscapes of the natural world. https://lukecallen.com/
